431 – Crochet Warm Vest – fast and easy

You can see step-by-step instructions and a video tutorial on how to crochet a short warm vest. The Vest is very cozy to wear. You can easily customize a vest to your size.

It’s a very easy and fast project for beginners. I used a very beautiful V-cluster stitch pattern.

Yarn approximately 300 g / 630 m / 690 yds

Hook Size 5,5 mm (US I/9, UK 5)

Sewing needle

Stitch markers

Tape measure

Size: M – L

 Width: 50 cm / 19.5 in
Length: 50 cm / 19.5 in

Terminology:

st – stitch

sts – stitches
CH – chain stitch
DC – double crochet stitch (yarn over the hook once)

DC cluster – DC2together
V-cluster st  = DC cluster + CH 1 + DC cluster in one space

SC – single crochet stitch

Instructions:

BACK

To begin make 61 chains for size M or any multiple of 3 + 1

If you want a different size you can make more or fewer chains.

Row 1: skip 4 chains, and make V-cluster sts in the fifth chain (DC cluster + CH 1 + DC cluster),

*skip 2 chains, V-cluster sts (DC cluster + CH 1 + DC cluster)

*repeat this pattern across the row

skip CH one and make DC one in the last chain

Row 2: CH 3 and turn your work. V-cluster sts in the chain space (in the center of the previous V-cluster sts),

*V-cluster sts in the chain space

*repeat this process in each chain space across the row

DC in the last stitch

Row 2 = Pattern

Continue repeating Row 2.

I made 28 rows (50 cm / 19.5 in)

If you want, you can make more rows to make the vest longer.

FRONT

The front is like the back except for the last four rows.

Mark 15 cm on one and the other side and put the markers.

Here we are going to make the shoulder parts.

Make 4 rows of the pattern.

Sew the shoulder pieces to the back with a needle and yarn.

Measure 24 cm / 9.5 in from the top of the shoulder and place a marker. This will be the armhole.

Sew the front and back of the vest under the armhole. Use a needle and yarn.

Make 1 row of single crochet stitches around the armhole.

You can do the same around the neck.

If you like it, make this beautiful vest for yourself or as a gift.
