Yarn approximately 50 g / 105 m / 115 yds
Ball (100 g – 3.53 Oz) 210 m – 230 yds
Hook Size 5 mm (US H/8, UK 6)
Sewing needle
Stitch markers
Tape measure

Width = 18 cm / 7 in
Length = 50 cm / 19,5 in

Terminology:

st = stitch
sts = stitches
CH = chain stitch
HDC = half double crochet
HDC3Shell – HDC 3 in one stitch
HDC3tog = HDC 3 together

Instructions:

To begin make 6 chains.

Rnd 1: skip one chain (CH) and make HDC in the second CH. Make HDC in every chain across. Total 5 HDCs.
Rnd 2: CH one and turn. Make HDC in every stitch across. Total 5 HDCs.

Rnd 3: In this row increase 2 sts (in the middle of the row)
CH one and turn, HDC one in the next 2 sts, HDC3Shell in the next st. Put the stitch marker in the middle of the Shell, HDC one in the last 2 sts. Total 7 sts.
Rnd 4: CH one and turn. Make HDC in every stitch across. Put the stitch marker in the middle of the row. Total 7 HDCs.

We will increase 2 stitches in every second row (in the middle of the row)

Rnd 5: In this row increase 2 sts (in the middle of the row)
CH one and turn, HDC one in the next 3 sts, HDC3Shell in the next st. Put the stitch marker in the middle of the Shell, HDC one in the last 3 sts. Total 9 sts.
Rnd 6: CH one and turn. Make HDC in every stitch across. Put the stitch marker in the middle of the row. Total 9 HDCs.

Rnd 7: In this row increase 2 sts (in the middle of the row)
CH one and turn, HDC one in the next 4 sts, HDC3Shell in the next st. Put the stitch marker in the middle of the Shell. HDC one in the last 4 sts. Total 11 sts.
Rnd 8: CH one and turn. Make HDC in every stitch across. Put the stitch marker in the middle of the row. Total 11 HDCs.

Rnd 9: In this row increase 2 sts (in the middle of the row)
CH one and turn, HDC one in the next 5 sts, HDC3Shell in the next st. Put the stitch marker in the middle of the Shell. HDC one in the last 5 sts. Total 13 sts.

Rnd 11: In this row increase 2 sts (in the middle of the row)

Repeat these two rows until you have made a total of 23 stitches in a row
That’s a total of 20 rows.

Width = 18 cm /7 in
Length = 22 cm / 8,6 in

Now, make 5 more rows without adding stitches (Total 23 HDCs).
That’s a total of 25 rows.

Now we will decrease 2 stitches in every second row (in the middle of the row)

Rnd 26: CH one and turn, HDC one in the next 10 sts, HDC3tog in the next st, HDC one in the last 10 sts.
Rnd 27: CH one and turn. Make HDC in every stitch across. Total 21 HDCs.

Rnd 28: CH one and turn, HDC one in the next 9 sts, HDC3tog in the next st, HDC one in the last 9 sts.
Rnd 29: CH one and turn. Make HDC in every stitch across. Total 19 HDCs.

Rnd 30: CH one and turn, HDC one in the next 8 sts, HDC3tog in the next st, HDC one in the last 8 sts.
