346 – Quick and Easy Crochet Cropped Vest

You can see Step by step instructions and a video tutorial on how to crochet a short lace vest. The Vest is very cozy and comfy to wear. You can easily customize a vest to your size.

You will need:

Hook Size 5 mm (US H/8, UK 6)
Total Yarn 250 g / 500 m / 545 yds
Ball (50g) contains 100 m/ 109 yds (medium)

Size: M

Width: 48 cm / 19 inches
Length: 50 cm / 19.6 inches

Terminology:

st – stitch
sts – stitches
CH – chain stitch
SC – single crochet stitch
DC – double crochet stitch (yarn over the hook once)

Instructions:

FRONT = BACK

To begin chain 47 or any multiple of 4 + 3.
Row 1: skip chain and make SC in every chain across. Total 46 SCs.
Row 2: CH 3 (as the first stitch), DC in the next stitch, CH 2, skip 2 sts, DC in the next two sts, *CH 2, skip 2 sts, DC in the next two sts *repeat this process until the end of the row
Row 3: CH 3 (as the first stitch), DC in every stitch across (DC 2 into the chain two space, DC 2 over DC 2)
Continue repeat Rows 2 – 3, to be a total of 30 rows
Row 31: chain and make SC in every stitch across. Total 46 SCs
If you need a different size, make more or fewer rows. Measure on your body.

Make 18 chains (18 chains will be used to connect the front and back of the vest).

Make another part like this because the front and back of the vest are the same.

Connect the front and back of the vest with chains.

Now, we’re going to crochet from the sides of the front and back, as well as from the chains

Row 1: I will make Single crochet stitches (SC).

FRONT: First row – one SC; Rows 2 – 30: two SCsts; Last row – one SC. (SC 60)
18 chains: one chain one SC (SC 18)
BACK: First row – one SC; Rows 2 – 30: two SCsts; Last row – one SC. (SC 60)
Total 138 SC stitches or any multiple of 4 + 2

Row 2: CH 3 (as the first stitch), DC in the next stitch, CH 2, skip 2 sts, DC in the next two sts, *CH 2, skip 2 sts, DC in the next two sts *repeat this process until the end of the row
Row 3: CH 3 (as the first stitch), DC in every stitch across (DC 2 into the chain two space, DC 2 over DC 2)
Continue repeat Rows 2 – 3, to be a total of 8 rows
Row 9 (last row): chain and make SC in every stitch across. Total 138 SCs
If you need a different size, make more or fewer rows. Measure on your body.

Use your yarn and sew front and back pieces.

Bottom edging
Make one row of single crochet stitches

Edge – around the neck
Make one row of single crochet stitches around the neck.
