You will need:
You can use any yarn and hook you have or love.
I used a hook size 3.5 mm and a cotton yarn (2 colors)

Terminology:
st – Stitch
sl st – slip stitch
CH – chain stitch
SC – single crochet
HDC – half double crochet

Instructions:

Make 30 chains. This pattern requires that the number of chains be divisible by 12 plus 6 (Multiple of 12 plus 6).

Row 1: CH, skip first chain and make 30 SC. Turn your work.
Row 2: CH; make slip sttitch in the back loops in the next 6 stitches; *6 HDC in the back loops, 6 sl st in the back loops *repeat to the end row; Turn your work.
Row 3: as Row 2
change the color of the yarn
Row 4: CH; 6 HDC in the back loops; *6 sl st in the back loops, 6 HDC in the back loops *repeat to the end row; Turn your work.
Row 5: as Row 4
change the color of the yarn

Repeat Rows 2 – 5
