Terminology:

st – stitch

CH – chain stitch

HDC – half double crochet st

Instructions:

To begin, make chains.

Make as many chains as you need. It does not matter whether the number of chains is even or odd.

Row 1: skip three chains and make HDC in the fourth chain. How to make a half-double crochet (HDC) stitch? Yarn over hook and insert hook into next stitch. Draw up a loop. Yarn over a hook and draw through all three loops on the hook.

Make HDC in every chain across.

Row 2:  CH one and turn. Yarn over hook and insert hook into next stitch. Draw up a loop. This loop draws through two loops on the hook.

Let’s do it again.

Repeat this process in every stitch across.

Switch to a pink-colored yarn.

Row 3: CH three and turn. Make HDC in every stitch across.

Row 4:  CH one and turn. Yarn over hook and insert hook into next stitch. Draw up a loop. This loop draws through two loops on the hook.

Let’s do it again.

Repeat this in every stitch across.

Switch to a white-colored yarn.

Change yarn color every two rows.
