Instructions:
Beanie edging
First, I’m going to make beanie edging. (Ribbed pattern)
To begin make 9 chains.
Row 1: skip chain and make SC in every chain across. Total 8 SCs.
Row 2: CH and turn; make SC in the back loop only (SCBLO) in every stitch across; Total 8 SCs
Row 3: CH and turn; make SCBLO in every stitch across; Total 8 SCs
Continue repeat Row 2, until you measure 50 cm / 19.7 in
I made 60 rows (rows multiple of 6).
If you need a different size, make more or fewer rows (multiple of 6)
Measure on your head.
Beanie edging is very stretchy.
Sew first and the last row.

Now, we’re going to crochet around the beanie edging.

Rnd 1: One row one loop (60 rows = 60 DC stitches). I will make double crochet stitches (DC).
At the beginning of each row, we make two chains but we will not count them as a loop.
Rnd 2: CH 2 (don’t count as a loop), DC in the first stitch, DC in the second stitch, FPDC in the next two stitches, *DC one in the next four sts, FPDC in the next two stitches *repeat this until the last two stitches; DC in the last two sts. Slip stitch to the first st just to close the round.

Rnd 3 – 6: CH 2 (don’t count as a loop), DC 2, FPDC 2, *DC 4, FPDC 2 *repeat this until the last two stitches; DC in the last two sts. Slip stitch to the first st just to close the round.

Rnd 7: Now switch to white-colored yarn.
CH 2 (don’t count as a loop), DC 2, FPDC 2, *DC 4, FPDC 2 *repeat this until the last two stitches; DC in the last two sts. Slip stitch to the first st just to close the round.

Rnd 8: In this row, we will decrease the number of stitches.
CH 2 (don’t count as a loop), DC 2, FPDC 2, *DC, DC2tog, DC, FPDC 2 *repeat this until the last two stitches; DC2tog. Slip stitch to the first st just to close the round.

Rnd 9: In this row, we will decrease the number of stitches.
CH 2 (don’t count as a loop), DC2tog, FPDC 2, *DC2tog, DC, FPDC 2 *repeat this until the last stitch; DC in the last st. Slip stitch to the first st just to close the round.

Now switch to another color yarn

Rnd 10: In this row, we will not decrease the number of stitches.
CH 2 (don’t count as a loop), DC in the first stitch, FPDC 2, *DC 2, FPDC 2 *repeat this until the last stitch; DC in the last st. Sl.st. to the first st just to close the round.

Rnd 11: In this row, we will decrease the number of stitches.
CH 2 (don’t count as a loop), skip first st, FPDC 2, *DC2tog, FPDC 2*repeat this until the last stitch; DC in the last st. Slip stitch to the first st just to close the round.

Rnd 12: In this row, we will not decrease the number of stitches.
CH 2 (don’t count as a loop), FPDC 2, *DC, FPDC 2 *repeat this until the last stitch; DC in the last st. Slip stitch to the first st just to close the round.

Rnd 13: In this row, we will decrease the number of stitches.
CH 2 (don’t count as a loop), FPDC 2, *skip DC, FPDC 2 *repeat this process. Slip stitch to the first st just to close the round.

Rnd 14: In this row, we will not decrease the number of stitches.
CH 2 (don’t count as a loop), FPDC in every stitch across. Slip stitch to the first st just to close the round.
