Instructions:

First, I’m going to make an edge of the hat

Edge of the hat (Ribbed pattern)
To begin make 12 chains.
Row 1: skip chain and make SC in every chain across. Total 11 SCs.
Row 2: CH one and turn; make SC in the back loops in every stitch across; Total 11 SCs
Rows 3 – 74: CH one and turn; make SC in the back loops in every stitch across;
The ribbed pattern is very stretchable.
Rows 74 = 50 cm / 19.7 in
If you need a different size, make more or fewer rows (multiple of 2).
Sew first and the last row with yarn and sewing needle.

Now, we’re going to crochet around the edge of the hat (body of hat)
Slip stitch to the first row just to close the round.
We have 74 rows (multiple of 2)
One row – one stitch.

Rnd 1: CH3 (first st), make DC in every row across. Total 74 SCs. Slip stitch to the first row just to close the round.
Rnd 2: CH one and make SC in every stitch across. Total 74 SCs. Slip stitch to the first row just to close the round.
Rnd 3: CH3 (first st), make FPDC (Front Post Double Crochet) in the next stitch, just one stitch down, skip st, *DC in the next stitch, FPDC in the next stitch, just one stitch down, skip st, *repeat this process entire row; Slip stitch to the first row just to close the round.
Rnd 4: CH one and make SC in every stitch across. Total 74 SCs. Slip stitch to the first row just to close the round.
Rnd 5: CH3 (don’t count it as a loop), make FPDC in the first stitch, just one stitch down, skip st, *DC in the next stitch, FPDC in the next stitch, just one stitch down, skip st, *repeat this process entire row; make DC in the last st; Slip stitch to the first row just to close the round.

Rnds 2 – 5 = Pattern
Continue repeat pattern, to be a measure 22 cm / 8.7 in

Now, We will decrease the number of stitches in the last four rows.
Row 1 of dec: CH3 and make FPDC&DCtog entire row
Row 2 of dec: CH3 and make DC2tog entire row
Row 3 of dec: CH3 and make DC2tog entire row
Row 4 of dec (last row): CH and make SC2tog entire row

Make a pompom as you wish.
