308 – Learn How to Crochet Shell Stitch Pattern for Scarf

You can see step by step instructions and a video tutorial on how to crochet a very simple and nice pattern for a scarf. I made this scarf in two colors. You can make it in several colors or one color.
You need to know how to crochet the next stitches: chain stitch, double crochet stitches, and shell stitches.

Terminology:
st – stitch
CH – chain stitch
DC – double crochet
DC5Shell – DC 5 all into the same stitch

You will need:
You can use any yarn and hook you have or love.

Size:
Width: 21cm / 8.2 inches
Length: 152 cm / 60 inches

Instructions:

Make 54 chains (multiple of 10 plus 4)

Row 1: skip 5 chains and make double crochet stitch (DC) in the sixth chain, skip 2 chains, *DC5Shell, skip 2 chains, DC, CH, skip chain one, DC, CH, skip chain one, DC, skip 2 chains *repeat this process; DC5Shell, skip 2 chains, DC, CH, skip chain one, DC in the last stitch.
Row 2: CH 3, DC 2 into the first st, skip 2 sts, DC, CH, skip st, DC, CH, skip st, DC, skip 2 sts, *DC5Shell, skip 2 sts, DC, CH, skip st, DC, CH, skip st, DC, skip 2 sts *repeat this process; DC 3 in the last st.
Row 3: CH 4, skip st, DC, skip 2 sts, *DC5Shell, skip 2 sts, DC, CH, skip st, DC, CH, skip st, DC, skip 2 sts *repeat this process; DC5Shell, skip 2 sts, DC, CH, skip st, DC in the last stitch.

Pattern = Row 2 – 3
Repeat pattern

Change the color of yarn after every 6 rows.
