281 – DIY Tutorial – Crochet Market Handbag

Today I will show you how to crochet lace motif handbag. Easy to make.
You can use different colors of yarn and make color combinations of your choice.

You will need:
Cotton Yarn 250 g / 625 m / 685 yds (Weight #2)
Ball (50g) contains 137 yds / 125 m)
Hook Size 3,5 mm
Scissors
Tape measure
Stitch markers
Sewing needle

Terminology:
st – stitch
sl st – slip stitch
Rnd – round/row
CH – chain stitch
SC – single crochet
DC – double crochet (yarn over the hook once)

Size: Width = 36 cm /14 in Length = 34 cm / 13.5 in

Instructions:

Bottom of the bag
First, we are going to make the bottom of the bag.
Make 20 chains.
Row 1: skip 3 chains, DC in the fourth chain, DC entire row. Total 18 sts.
Row 2: CH 3, DC entire row. Total 18 sts.
Rows 3 – 32: repeat row 2
Now we’re going to work around.
Rnd 1: We’ll make single crochet stitches.
18 SC stitches up and down
64 SC stitches on each side (one row – two SC)
One SC in each of the four corner
That’s a total of 168 SC stitches
Rnd 2: CH 3, DC entire rnd; Total 168 sts. Connect with a sl st
Rnd 3: CH 4, skip st, *DC, CH, skip st *repeat entire rnd; Connect with a sl.st.
Rnd 4: CH 3, DC into the first chain space, CH, *DC into the next chain space, CH *repeat entire rnd; DC into the last chain space; Connect with sl.st.

Rnds 5-30: Repeat Rnds 3-4
Rnd 31: CH3, DC entire rnd; Connect with sl st
Rnds 32-34: CH, SC entire rnd; Connect with sl st

Now we’ll make straps.
Put the markers 10 cm / 4 in from the end of your work. Repeat this on the other side.

the first strap: make 100 chains between first and second stitch markers,
SC stitches between second and third stitch marker;
the second strap: make 100 chains between third and fourth stitch markers;
SC sts between fourth and first stitch markers;
Rnds 1 – 4: SC sts
