271 – DIY Tutorial Crochet Lace Shell Pattern

On this page you can see step by step instruction and video tutorial how to crochet a lace shell stitches, which is nice for scarves, blouses, blankets and other things.

To crochet this pattern, you will need to know how to

1) crochet a chain

2) crochet a single crochet stitch and

3) crochet a double crochet stitch

You will need:
You can use any yarn and hook you have or love.

Terminology:
st – stitch
CH – chain stitch
SC – single crochet
DC – double crochet (yarn over the hook once)

Instructions:
To begin make chains (multiple of 8 plus 2).
I’m going to make 26 chains (multiple of 8 plus 2).

Row 1: skip chain 2, SC into the third chain, SC in the next chain, CH 3, skip 3 CHs, *SC in the next 5 chains, CH 3, skip 3 CHs *repeat this process; SC in the last 3 chains; Turn your work.

Row 2: CH 3; DC 5 into the next chain 3 space, *CH 2, SC into the middle of the five SCs from the row below, CH 2, DC 5 into the next chain 3 space *keep repeating this process across the row; At the end make CH 2 and SC in the last stitch. Turn your work.

Row 3: CH 4, SC 5 over DC 5, *CH 3, SC 5 over DC 5 *keep repeating this process across the row; At the end make CH one and DC in the last stitch (first chain). Turn your work.

Row 4: CH 3, DC 2 in the first chain space, CH 2, SC into the middle of the five SCs from the row below, CH 2, *DC 5 into the next chain 3 space, CH 2, SC into the middle of the five SCs from the row below, CH 2 *keep repeating this process across the row; At the end make DC 3 in the last chains space; Turn your work.

Row 5: CH 2, SC in the next two sts, CH 3, *SC 5 over DC 5, CH 3 *keep repeating this process across the row; At the end make SC in the last 3 stitches. Turn your work.

Rows 2 – 5 = Pattern

Do the first row once.
Repeat Rows 2 – 5
