180 – DIY Tutorial – Crochet Santa Hat

You can see Step by step instruction and video tutorial how to crochet a Santa Hat. It’s easy and great for beginners. Ideal for gifts. This is a very simple crochet pattern worked primarily using double crochet stitches (DC) and single crochet stitches (SC).

You will need:
Hook Size 3,5 mm (red yarn)
Hook Size 4 mm (green and white)
Scissors
Tape measure
Yarn 50g
One ball of green, red and white yarns.

Terminology:
st – Stitch
sk – Skip
Rnd – Round
SSt – Slip Stitch
CH – Chain Stitch
SC – Single Crochet
DC – Double Crochet
V-st – 2 DC in one stitch

Size:
Width = 28cm /11″ Length = 23cm /9″

Instructions:

Red color yarn. Hook Size 3,5 mm
Start 15 chains in a circle.
Rnd 1: 3 chains (CH) + double crochet stitch (DC) in the first chain, *2 DC in the next chain (V-st ) *repeat entire rnd; Connect with a SSt. Total 30 stitches.
Rnds 2-7: Add 10 more stitches in each rnd.
Rnd 2: 3 CH, V-st in the next stitch, *DC in the next 2 st, V-st in the next stitch * repeat entire rnd; DC in the last st. Connect with a SSt; Total 40 st.
Rnd 3: 3 CH, DC,V-st, *DC in the next 3 st, V-st * repeat entire rnd; DC in the last st. Connect with a SSt; Total 50 st.
Rnd 4: 3 CH, DC in the next 2 st,V-st, *DC in the next 4 st, V-st * repeat entire rnd; DC in the last st. Connect with a SSt; Total 60 st.
Rnd 5: 3 CH, DC in the next 3 st,V-st, *DC in the next 5 st, V-st * repeat entire rnd; DC in the last st. Connect with a SSt; Total 70 st. 
Rnd 6: 3 CH, DC in the next 4 st,V-st, *DC in the next 6 st, V-st * repeat entire rnd; DC in the last st. Connect with a SSt; Total 80 st. 
Rnd 7: 3 CH, DC in the next 5 st,V-st, *DC in the next 7 st, V-st * repeat entire rnd; DC in the last st. Connect with a SSt; Total 90 st.

Rnd 8: In this row, we make crossed DC stitches. How to make a crossed DC? Skip 1 stitch, DC in the next stitch, DC in skipped stitch working behind the previous stitch.
3 CH, crossed DC stitches to the end rnd. DC in the last st. Connect with a SSt; Total 90 st.
Rnd 9: 3 CH, DC in the next 89 st. Connect with a SSt; Total 90 st.
Rnds 10 – 17: repeat Rnds 8-9
Rnds 18 – 23: Change color to white. Hook Size 4 mm. Make single crochet stitches. Total 90 SC.
Rnd 24: Change color to green. Make single crochet stitches. Total 90 SC.
