169 – How to Crochet a Poncho With Sleeves

A poncho is the perfect compromise between a sweater and a jacket. I will show you how to crochet a lace Poncho with sleeves. I used 3 different patterns. You can see step-by-step written instructions and video tutorial.
You need to know how to crochet Slip Stitch, Chain Stitch, Single Crochet and Double Crochet stitches.

You will need:

Hook Size 5.5 mm and 4.5mm
Scissors
Tape measure
Markers

Yarn 300 g
3 balls of beige Yarn. Each ball contains 100 g,  328 yds/ 300 m.
Oz 3.52; Nm 3.00
1 m = 1,0936 jardi (yds)

Size:
Width: 75cm /29.5″ Length: 51cm /20″
Gauge Pattern 1: 15 stitches x 6 rows = 10cm (4″) Square (Pattern 1)

Terminology:
st – Stitch
sk – Skip
rpt – Repeat
tog – Together
Rnd – Round
SSt – Slip Stitch
CH – Chain Stitch
SC – Single Crochet
DC – Double Crochet
SC2tog – SC 2 together
4DC Shell – 4 DC in one stitch
4DC Shell with CH space – 2DC+1CH+2DC in one stitch
V-st – 2 dc in one stitch

Instructions:
Start 225 chains in a circle.

Pattern 1

Size hook 5.5 mm
Rnd 1: 3CH+DC+CH+2DC in one chain, skip 4 CH, 4DC Shell with CH space in the next chain; skip 4 CH; *4DC Shell with CH space, skip 4 CH* repeat entire row; tie it together with SSt, make two more SSt; Total 225 st. The number of stitches is divisible by 5.
Rnd 2: 3CH+DC+CH+2DC in the chain space; *4DC Shell with CH space in the chain space* repeat entire row; tie it together with SSt, make two more SSt; Total 225 st.
Rnd 3-6: repeat Rnd 2

Rnd 7: In this row reduce the number of stitches by 15. We make single crochet stitches. CH, SC in the next 13 st. Then we make SC2tog. *13 SC, SC2tog* repeat entire row; tie it together with SSt
Rnd 8: In this row reduce the number of stitches by 18. We make single crochet stitches. CH, SC in the next 9 st. Then we make SC2tog. *9 SC, SC2tog* repeat entire row; tie it together with SSt

Pattern 2

Rnd 9: 3 CH, 3 DC Shell in one st; skip 3 st; *4DC Shell in one st, skip 3 st* repeat entire row; tie it together with SSt, make two more SSt; Total 192 st. The number of stitches is divisible by 4.
Rnd 10: 3 CH, 3 DC Shell in one st; skip 4 DC; *4DC Shell in one st, skip 4 DC* repeat entire row; tie it together with SSt, make two more SSt; Total 192 st.
Rnd 11-14: repeat Rnd 10

Rnd 15: In this row reduce the number of stitches by 16. We make single crochet stitches. CH, SC in the next 10 st. Then we make SC2tog. *10 SC, SC2tog* repeat entire row; tie it together with SSt

Rnd 16: In this row reduce the number of stitches by 14. We make single crochet stitches. CH, SC in the next 10 st. Then we make SC2tog. *10 SC, SC2tog* repeat entire row; tie it together with SSt

Pattern 3

Rnd 17: 3 CH, DC; skip st; *V-st, skip st* repeat entire row; tie it together with SSt, make one more SSt; Total 162 st. The number of stitches is divisible by 2.
Rnd 18: 3 CH, DC; skip 2DC; *V-st, skip 2DC* repeat entire row; tie it together with SSt, make one more SSt; Total 162 st.
Rnd 19-23: repeat Rnd 18

Rnd 24: In this row reduce the number of stitches by 16. We make single crochet stitches. CH, SC in the next 8 st. Then we make SC2tog. *8 SC, SC2tog* repeat entire row; tie it together with SSt

Rnd 25: In this row reduce the number of stitches by 16. We make single crochet stitches. CH, SC in the next 7 st. Then we make SC2tog. *7 SC, SC2tog* repeat entire row; tie it together with SSt.

We continue to do Pattern 3
Rnd 26: 3 CH, DC; skip st; *V-st, skip st* repeat entire row; tie it together with SSt, make one more SSt; Total 130 st. The number of stitches is divisible by 2.
Rnd 27-31: repeat Rnd 18

Rnd 32: In this row reduce the number of stitches by 5. We make single crochet stitches. CH, SC in the next 24 st. Then we make SC2tog. *24 SC, SC2tog* repeat entire row; tie it together with SSt

Rnd 33: In this row reduce the number of stitches by 5. We make single crochet stitches. CH, SC in the next 23 st. Then we make SC2tog. *23 SC, SC2tog* repeat entire row; tie it together with SSt.

Rnd 34: 3 CH, DC; skip 2 st; *V-st, skip 2 st* repeat entire row; tie it together with SSt, make one more SSt; Total 80 st.
Rnd 35-40: repeat Rnd 18

Rnd 41-43: We make single crochet stitches (Size hook 4.5 mm). Total 80 SC.

Ending
We make edges. It’s necessary one row of single crochet stitches. Total 225 single crochet stitches in row.

Now we make sleeves. (Size hook 4.5 mm)
First, mark 35 loops at the lower part of the poncho on both sides.
Next, make 35 stitches in the circle.
Rnd 1-13: 3 CH, DC in the next 34 stitches; Total 35 st.
Rnd 14-15: CH, 35 SC
