167 – How to crochet a Puff Stitch beanie

This step by step tutorial will show you how to crochet pretty and cozy beanie. This is a free crochet pattern perfect for beginners. Primarily I used Puff stitches and BPTC stitches.
You need to know how to crochet Slip Stitch (ss), Chain Stitch (ch), Single Crochet (sc), Double Crochet (dc), Back Post Treble Crochet (BPTC) and Puff Stitch (Puff st).

You will need:

Hook Size 4 mm
Yarn 2 x 50 g = 100 g
2 balls of beige Yarn. Each ball contains 142 yds/ 130 m
1 m = 1,0936 jardi (yds)

Size:
Width = 24 cm / 9,5″
Length = 20 cm / 8″

Terminology:
st – Stitch
rpt – Repeat
Rnd – Round/Row
ss – Slip Stitch
ch – Chain Stitch
sc – Single Crochet
dc – Double Crochet
BPTC – Back Post Treble Crochet
Puff st – Puff Stitch represents a group 3 of incomplete stitches into the same stitch. When you finish crocheting the partial stitches you will then close the stitch by pulling the yarn through all of the loops that are remaining on the hook.

Instructions:
4 chains in a circle
Rnd 1: 2 ch; 13 dc into the center of the ring; tie it together; Total 13 dc
Rnd 2: 2 ch; 12 Puff stitches with 2 chains, 1 Puff stitches with chain
tie it together; Total 13 Puff st
Rnd 3: 2 ch; *dc over Puff st, 2 double crochet stitches in the chain space* repeat entire row Total 39 double crochet stitches
Rnd 4: 2 ch; Puff st with chain, *BPTC, Puff st* repeat entire rnd; Total 20 Puff st and 19 BPTC
Rnd 5: 2 ch; dc, *dc over Puff stitch, dc over BPTC, dc between Puff st and BPTC, Total 59dc
Rnd 6: 2 ch; Puff st with chain, *BPTC, Puff st* repeat entire rnd; Total 30 Puff st and 29 BPTC
Rnd 7 – 14: 2 ch; Puff st over Puff st; *BPTC over BPTC; Puff st over Puff st* repeat entire rnd; Total 30 Puff st and 29 BPTC
Rnd 15 – 18: chain, *single crochet over Puff st, single crochet over BPTC* repeat entire row; Total 59 single crochet stitches
