Terminology:

st – stitch
CH – chain stitch
SC – single crochet st
HDC – half double crochet st
DC – double crochet stitch  (yarn over the hook once)
2 crossed HDC – Skip stitch and make HDC in the next stitch. Then, make HDC in the skipped stitch working in front of the previous stitch.

Instructions:

To begin, make chains (an odd number of chains).

Row 1: skip the chain and make SC in the first st, and make another SC in an already-made SC (from one thread). It’s a first stitch, DC in every chain across.

Row 2: CH one and turn, HDC in the first st, 2 crossed HDC, *2 crossed HDC *repeat, HDC in the last st.

Row 3: SC in the first st, make another SC in an already-made SC (from one thread). It’s a first stitch. DC in every stitch across.
