410 – Super Easy Crochet Top-Down Bucket Hat Tutorial
You can see step-by-step instructions and video tutorial on how to crochet a warm and soft hat. This is an adult beanie. But, I will show you how to make different sizes.
The pattern is very simple.
Beanie is very soft and comfortable.
You will need:
Total Yarn 100 g / 200 m / 218 yds
Ball (50g) contains 100 m/ 109 yds (medium)
Hook Size 5 mm (US H/8, UK 6)
Size: Adult (M size)
Width: 24 cm / 9.4 inches
Length: 24 cm / 9.4 inches
Terminology:
st – stitch
sts – stitches
sl.st. – slip stitch
Rnd – Round/Row
Incr – increase
CH – chain stitch
SC – single crochet stitch
DC – double crochet stitch (yarn over the hook once)
DCFLO – double crochet front loop only
2 crossed DC – Skip one stitch and make DC in the next stitch. Then, make DC in the skipped stitch working behind of the previous stitch.
Instructions:
To begin, make 4 chains. Make a slip stitch to close the round.
Rnd 1: CH 2, DC 12 into the center of the ring, Slip stitch to the first st just to close the round. Total 12 DCs
Rnd 2: (incr 12 sts) CH 2, DC 2 in every stitch across; Sl.st. to the first st just to close the round.
Total 24 DCs
Rnd 3: (incr 12 sts) CH 2, *DC, DC 2 in one stitch *repeat the entire row; Sl.st. to the first st just to close the round.
Total 36 DCs
Rnd 4: (incr 12 sts) CH 2, *DC one into the next 2 stitches, DC 2 in one st. *repeat the entire row; Sl.st. to the first st just to close the round. Total 48 DCs
Rnd 5: (incr 12 sts) CH 2, *DC one into the next 3 stitches, DC 2 in one st. *repeat the entire row; Sl.st. to the first st just to close the round. Total 60 DCs
The diameter of these first 5 rows is about 15 cm / 6 inches. It is for children aged 3 – 10 years.
Rnd 6: (incr 12 sts) CH 2, *DC one into the next 4 stitches, DC 2 in one st. *repeat the entire row; Sl.st. to the first st just to close the round. Total 72 DCs
The diameter of these first 6 rows is about 17,5 cm / 7 inches. It is M size beanie for adults.
We will mark the last row in which we added stitches
For size L, make one more, seventh round in which you will add stitches.
Rnd 7: (No more increase) CH2 and make DC one in every stitch across. Sl.st. to the first st just to close the round. Total 72 DCs
Rnd 8: CH2, DC one in the next two stitches, 2 crossed DC *DC one in the next two stitches, 2 crossed DC *repeat the entire row; Sl.st. to the first st just to close the round
The number of stitches must be multiple of 4 for this pattern
Repeat Rnds 7 – 8 until you measure about 10 cm / 4 inches / 14 rnds
If you need a different size, make more or fewer rows.
Rnd 15: CH one and make SC in every stitch across. Sl.st. to the first st just to close the round
Hat brim
Rnd 1: (incr 6 sts) In this row, I’m going to make DCFLO stitches (double crochet front loop only)
