402 – Crochet Top-Down Summer Blouse – Easy Tutorial

You can see Step by step instructions and a video tutorial on how to crochet a simple summer blouse. I will crochet it from top to bottom, with no sewing or joining. Easy to make.

You will need:

Cotton Yarn 300 g / 720 m / 786 yds
Ball (50g) contains 120 m /131 yds
Hook size 3,5 mm, US size E-4

Size: M

Width = 50 cm / 19.6 in
Length = 53 cm / 21 in

Terminology:

st = stitch
sts = stitches
sl.st = slip stitch
CH = chain stitch
SC = single crochet stitch
DC = double crochet (yarn over the hook once)
Shell = DC3Shell (DC 3 in one space)
Corner Shell = DC 6 Shell with two chains (DC3 + CH2 + DC3 in one space)

Instructions:

To begin make 102 chains (multiple of 6). Slip stitch to the first chain just to close the round.

Rnd 1: CH one and make SC one in every chain across. Total 102 SCs. Slip stitch to the first st just to close the round.
Rnd 2: CH 3 (as a first st), DC 2 into the first st, CH, skip 2 sts, Shell (DC3Shell), CH *skip 2 sts, Shell, CH *repeat to the last 2 sts. Total 34 Shells. Slip stitch to the first st just to close the round.

Now, I’ll mark the corners.
5 Shells and put the marker (First corner)
7 Shells and put the marker (Second corner)
10 Shells and put the marker (Third corner)
7 Shells and put the marker (Fourth corner)
5 Shells remain until the end

Rnd 3: sl.st 3, CH 3 (as a first st), DC 2 into the first chain space, CH, Shell in the next chain space, CH, *Shell in the next chain space, CH *repeat to the First marker, Corner Shell (First corner), CH, *Shell in the next chain space, CH *repeat to the second marker, Corner Shell (Second corner), CH, *Shell in the next chain space, CH *repeat to the third marker, Corner Shell (Third corner), CH, *Shell in the next chain space, CH *repeat to the fourth marker, Corner Shell (Fourth corner), CH, *Shell in the next chain space, CH *repeat to the end of the row. Slip stitch to the third chain just to close the round.

Rnd 4: sl.st 3, CH 3 (as a first st), DC 2 into the first chain space, CH, *Shell in the next chain space, CH *repeat to the First corner, Corner Shell, CH, *Shell in the next chain space, CH *repeat to the Second corner, Corner Shell, CH, *Shell in the next chain space, CH *repeat to the Third corner, Corner Shell, CH, *Shell in the next chain space, CH *repeat to the Fourth corner, Corner Shell, CH, *Shell in the next chain space, CH *repeat to the end row. Slip stitch to the first st just to close the round.

Rnds 5 – 13: Repeat Rnd 4
Continue repeat Rnd 4, to be a total of 13 rows
There will be 12 shell rows.

If you need a different size, make more or fewer rounds.

Fold your work in half, connect corners, and continue to work in a circle.

Width = 50 cm / 19.6 in
Length = 20 cm / 8 in

Now we continue to work in a circle (body of blouse). Repeat pattern.
Rnds 1 – 22: sl.st 3, CH 3 (as a first st), DC 2 into the first chain space, CH, Shell in the next chain space, CH, *Shell in the next chain space, CH *repeat to the end row. Slip stitch to the first st just to close the round.
Rnd 23: sl.st 3, CH 3 (as a first st), DC 2 into the first chain space, *Shell in the next chain space *repeat to the end row. Slip stitch to the first st just to close the round.
Rnd 24: CH one and make SC one in every stitch across. Slip stitch to the first st just to close the round.
