382 – Easy Crochet Granny Square Poncho – Only 4 Squares
You can see Step by step instructions and a video tutorial on how to crochet a poncho. Four squares are needed to make a poncho. Easy to make. I’ll use two colors of yarn, green and beige.

You will need:
– Total Yarn of approximately 250 g / 825 m / 902 yds
100 g / 3.53 Oz /330 m / 361 ydy
I used two colors of yarn (green and beige).
– Hook Size 3.5 mm (US E/4, UK 9)
– Tape measure
– Sewing needle
Size: Adults
The size of one square is 44 cm x 44 cm (17.3 x 17.3 inches)
If you need a different size, make bigger or smaller squares.
Terminology:
st – stitch
sl.st – slip stitch
Rnd / Row – round / row
CH – chain stitch
SC – single crochet stitch
DC – double crochet stitch (yarn over the hook once)
Shell = DC3 + CH 3 + DC3 in one space (It’s a corner)
Instructions:
We are going to make one square.
Use green-colored yarn.
Start 4 chains in a circle.
Rnd 1: CH 3, DC 2, CH 3, DC 3, CH 3, DC 3, CH 3, DC 3, CH 3; Slip stitch to that first st just to close the round.
Make sl.st. in the next 2 stitches.
Make sl.st in the chains space.
Rnd 2:
CH 3 + DC 2 + CH 3 + DC 3 in the chains space (This is the first corner)
CH one and make the second corner in the next chains space (Shell = DC3 + CH3 + DC3)
CH one and make the third corner in the next chains space (Shell = DC3 + CH 3 + DC3)
CH one and make the fourth corner in the next chains space (Shell = DC3 + CH 3 + DC3)
CH one and slip stitch to that first st just to close the round.
Make sl.st. in the next 2 stitches.
Make sl.st in the chains space.
Rnd 3:
CH 3 + DC 2 + CH 3 + DC 3 in the first corner
CH one and DC 3 in the next space
CH one and make Shell in the second corner (DC3 + CH3 + DC3)
CH one and DC 3 in the next space
CH one and make Shell in the third corner (DC3 + CH3 + DC3)
CH one and DC 3 in the next space
CH one and make Shell in the fourth corner (DC3 + CH3 + DC3)
CH one and DC 3 in the next space

CH one and DC 3 in the next space (repeat this 5 more times)
CH one and make Shell in the second corner. DC3 + CH3 + DC3
CH one and DC 3 in the next space (repeat this 5 more times)
CH one and make Shell in the third corner. DC3 + CH3 + DC3
CH one and DC 3 in the next space (repeat this 5 more times)
CH one and make Shell in the fourth corner. DC3 + CH3 + DC3

CH 3 + DC 2 + CH 3 + DC 3 in the first corner
CH one and DC 3 in the next space (repeat this 9 more times)
CH one and make Shell in the second corner. DC3 + CH3 + DC3
CH one and DC 3 in the next space (repeat this 9 more times)
CH one and make Shell in the third corner. DC3 + CH3 + DC3
CH one and DC 3 in the next space (repeat this 9 more times)
CH one and make Shell in the fourth corner. DC3 + CH3 + DC3

CH 3 + DC 2 + CH 3 + DC 3 in the first corner
CH one and DC 3 in the next space (repeat this 15 more times)
CH one and make Shell in the second corner. DC3 + CH3 + DC3
CH one and DC 3 in the next space (repeat this 15 more times)
CH one and make Shell in the third corner. DC3 + CH3 + DC3
CH one and DC 3 in the next space (repeat this 15 more times)
CH one and make Shell in the fourth corner. DC3 + CH3 + DC3
CH one and DC 3 in the next space (repeat this 15 more times)
CH one and slip stitch to that first st just to close the round.
Make sl.st. in the next 2 stitches.
Make sl.st in the chains space.
Repeat this process in the same way, to be a total of 21 rows.
One square is done.
Make three more squares like this.
We need four squares.
Two will be for the front and back and two for the shoulders.
Now it is necessary to sew all four parts.
We sew from the right side.
Edge – around the neck:
Row 1: CH and make one SC over the DC (skip chain);
slip stitch to that first st just to close the round
Row 2 – 3: CH and make one SC in every stitch across; make SC3 together in every corner;
slip stitch to that first st just to close the round
Bottom edging
Row 1: CH and make one SC over the DC (skip chain); make SC 2 + CH + SC 2 in every corner;
slip stitch to that first st just to close the round
