Instructions:
We’re going to make two squares that we’ll connect.
First we’ll make one square.
We’ll use a green-colored yarn.
Start 4 chains in a circle.
Rnd 1: CH 2, DC 12; Connect with a slip stitch (sl.st.)
Rnd 2: CH 3, DC in the first stitch; DC 2 between next two stitches; *DC 2 between next two stitches *repeat this process across the row. Total 24 st. Connect with a sl.st.
Now switch to a yellow-colored yarn.
Make sl.st. in the next stitch. Make another sl.st. between the next two stitches.
Rnd 3: CH 3, DC, skip 2 st, DC 2 in one space (between next two stitches), skip 2 st,
Make Shell (DC 2 + CH 2 + DC 2 in one space); This is the first corner;
*skip 2 st, DC 2 in one space *repeat two times; skip 2 st,
Make Shell (DC 2 + CH 2 + DC 2 in one space); This is the second corner;
*skip 2 st, DC 2 in one space *repeat two times; skip 2 st,
Make Shell (DC 2 + CH 2 + DC 2 in one space); This is the third corner;
*skip 2 st, DC 2 in one space *repeat two times; skip 2 st,
Make Shell (DC 2 + CH 2 + DC 2 in one space); This is the fourth corner;
Connect with a sl.st. Do two more sl.st. before you start a new round.
Rnd 4: CH 3, DC, skip 2 st, DC 2 in one space, skip 2 st
Make Shell in the first corner; skip 2 st,
*DC 2 in one space, skip 2 st *repeat to the second corner;
Make Shell in the second corner; skip 2 st,
*DC 2 in one space, skip 2 st *repeat to the third corner;
Make Shell in the third corner; skip 2 st,
*DC 2 in one space, skip 2 st *repeat to the fourth corner;
Make Shell in the fourth corner; skip 2 st, DC 2 in one space
Connect with a sl.st. Do two more sl.st. before you start a new round.
Rnds 5 – 9: Repeat Rnd 4
Colors of yarns in rounds:
Rnds 1-2: green-colored yarn
Rnds 3-4: yellow-colored yarn
Rnds 5-6: red-colored yarn
Rnd 7: black-colored yarn
Rnd 8: yellow-colored yarn
Rnd 9: green-colored yarn
Now we’ll make the sides and the bottom of the bag.
Put the stitch marker in two corners.
Row 1: green-colored yarn – Make single crochet stitches (SC) in the back loops to the end row. Turn your work.
Row 2: double crochet stitches (DC) to the end row.
Now switch to a red-colored yarn.
Row 3: Skip 6 stitches. Put your hook in the 7th stitch and make SC. SC in the next 3 st; DC 2 in one st; *skip st, DC 2 in one st *repeat this process; SC 4
Now switch to a yellow-colored yarn.
Row 4: CH and SC in one stitch; SC in the next 8 stitches; DC 2 in one st; *skip 2 st, DC 2 in one st *repeat this process; SC 9
Now switch to a black-colored yarn.
Row 5: CH and SC 16; DC 2 in one st; *skip 2 st, DC 2 in one st *repeat this process; SC 16
When we finished both parts then we will connect them. Connect parts with a slip stitches.
Make two rows of double crochet stitches.
Now we’ll make a strap.
Lay your bag on the table and put one stitch marker in one corner and another stitch marker in the other corner. Count over 7 stitches from the marker. Connect your yarn in this place and make HDC 14 stitches across.
Row 1: Chain one and do one HDC in the same stitch. Then do one HDC in the next 13 stitches. Total 14 HDC. Turn your work.
Row 2: CH 1, skip the first stitch and do one HDC in the next 13 stitches. Total 13 HDC. Turn your work.
Row 3: CH 1, skip the first stitch and do one HDC in the next 12 stitches. Total 12 HDC. Turn your work.
Continue this process on each row. You will do this until you end up with a row containing 6 HDC stitches.
Now we have a row with just 6 HDC on it. Continue to do 6 HDC on each row.
I made 20 more HDC rows for my strap.
It’s up to you to determine how many rows you want to make for the strap.
Once you’ve completed the first side strap, You’ll repeat the process for the other side.
Once both straps are completed, use your yarn and sew the two straps together at the top.
Connect your yarn anywhere you wish and just evenly do SC stitches around the bag inner edging.
You’ll repeat the process for the back side.
