214 – Knit and Crochet Hat (Ribbed and Seed Stitches) – Part 1

You need to know how to knit a basic knit stitches (knit and purl stitches) and how to crochet chains and single crochet stitches.

You will need:
Crochet Hook Size 4,5 mm
Circular knitting needles 5 mm
or 4 knitting needles
Stitch marker
Sewing needle
Colorful cotton yarn 70 g
Ball 100 g contains 208 yards / 190 m
Size: Adult
Width = 24 cm / 9.3″ Length = 24 cm / 9.3″
Terminology:
St – Stitch
Rnd – round
CH – chain
SC – single crochet
K – knit stitch
P – purl stitch
Instructions:
We are going to use 2 patterns.
Ribbed pattern (We’re going to crocheting)
Make 11 chains.
Row 1: skip chain and make single crochet (SC) in each of the next 10 chains, Total 10 SC. Turn your work.
Row 2: 1 CH, SC in the back loops in the next 10 stitches. Turn your work.
Rows 3 – 64: Repeat Row 2
Connect first and last row with slip stitch (10 slip stitches).
Seed pattern (We’re going to knitting)
First We’ll make 64 loops in a circle. One row one loop. We made 64 rows and we’ll make 64 loops. At the end of the row, put the stitch marker on the needle. Stitch marker marks the beginning and the end of the circle.
After ribbed pattern, we’ll knit a seed stitches
It’s alternating one knit stitch and one purl stitch.
Rnd 1: repeat one knit stitch and one purl stitch (all the way around)
Rnd 2: repeat one purl stitch and one knit stitch (all the way around)
Rnds 3 – 50: as Rnds 1 and 2
Rnd 51: In this row we’ll reduce the number of stitches double. We’ll knitting 2 stitches together and use seed pattern.
First stitch is a knit stitch. I grab 2 stitches and make 1 knit stitch.
Second stitch is a purl stitch. I grab 2 stitches and make 1 purl stitch.
Total 32 stitches.
Rnd 52: Repeat row 51
Total 16 stitches.
Transfer loops from the knitting needles on the sewing needle and yarn. Tighten the yarn and tie it.
Make a pompom as you wish.
