184 – How to Crochet a Vest Jacket

Introducing an easy crochet adult vest that is simple in construction. You can use any yarn you have or love.
You need to know how to crochet Chain Stitch, Single Crochet, Double Crochet, Front Post Double Crochet and Shell stitch.

You will need:
Hook Size 5,5 mm
Scissors
Tape measure
Yarn 400 g
4 balls of beige yarn. Each ball contains 100 g, 328 yds/ 300 m
Oz 3.52 Nm 3.00
1 m = 1,0936 jardi (yds)

Size: M-L

Terminology:
st – Stitch
CH – Chain Stitch
SC – Single Crochet
DC – Double Crochet
FPDC – Front Post Double Crochet
5DCShell – 5 DC in one stitch
3DCShell – 3 DC in one stitch

Instructions:

Back
Make 71 chains.
Row 1: skip chain; SC in the next 70 CH; Total 70 stitches. Turn your work.
Row 2: 3CH; 69 DC to the end row. Total 70 st. Turn your work.
Row 3: 2CH, 68 FPDC to the end row. Last stitch DC. Total 70 st. Turn your work.
Rows 4-53: Repeat Row 3
Row 54: SC 70
Width = 53 cm / 21″ Length = 53cm / 21″

Front 1/2
Make 71 chains.
Row 1: skip chain; SC in the next 70 CH; Total 70 stitches. Turn your work.
Row 2: 2CH; 69 DC to the end row. Total 70 st. Turn your work.
Row 3: 2CH, 68 FPDC to the end row. Last stitch DC. Total 70 st. Turn your work.
Rows 4-19: Repeat Row 3
Row 20: SC to the end row
Width = 19 cm / 7,5″ Length = 53cm / 21″

Join the front and back side with sewing needle. Mark the twenty-ninth loop from the beginning.
Connect your shoulder part. Also use a sewing needle.

Bottom Edge (Shells pattern)
Row 1: CH, SC, *5DCShell, SC *repeat entire row
Row 2: 3CH, 2DC in one stitch, skip 2 st, SC, skip 2 st, *5DCShell, skip 2 st, SC, skip 2 st *repeat to the last stitch; 3DCShell in a last stitch; Turn your work.
Rows 3-7: repeat rows 1-2
After Row 7, continue to work the edge. SC in a corner, 5DCShell, SC, 5DCShell, skip 2 st, SC, *skip 2 st, 5DCShell, skip 2 st, SC * repeat to the end row.
Last Row: just SC stitches in a circle.
